How to Plan a Funktion-One Rental for a Festival, Club, or Warehouse
The venue, schedule, audience, power, access, sound limits, and operating details that turn a loudspeaker request into a useful production plan.
By Jacob LillStart with the event rather than the brand name. The audience layout, room or site, program, operating hours, neighborhood, schedule, access, power, stage, existing equipment, and responsible parties determine what the sound system must do. A clear brief lets a provider decide whether a Dance Stack is appropriate and how it should be deployed.
Send a usable venue picture
Share floor plans, dimensions, photos, stage and audience locations, ceiling or rigging limits, access paths, loading constraints, power information, and known sound restrictions. For outdoor work, include weather exposure, ground conditions, curfew, and local requirements.
Describe the program
List artists, source formats, DJ or live inputs, playback, microphones, monitoring, changeovers, soundcheck windows, doors, performance times, and show end. Program detail affects patch, consoles, monitoring, staffing, and the time needed to verify the system.
Clarify ownership
Name who is responsible for sound design, front of house, monitors, stage patch, playback, power, rigging, communications, artist advance, show call, security, and venue coordination. Unowned tasks tend to become last-minute failures.
Compare quotes by scope
One quote may include only cabinets while another includes transport, electronics, cables, labor, tuning, operation, insurance, travel, and strike. Compare manifests and responsibilities before comparing totals.
